Mountain Retreat

Fresh off of a quick, mini mountain retreat, I can honestly say…I’ve never been happier to be home in my air conditioning!!

It was nice to get away for a bit, out in the mountains in a nice quiet cabin, but to say that this was a relaxing retreat would be a lie.  Beautiful, yes.  Relaxing, no.  Stressful?  You might say that when you can’t stop sweating, worrying about ticks, and then look outside and there’s a bear!

Aside from the constant terror (at least on my part; everyone else just laughed at me), I did enjoy quietly catching up on some reading while drowning in a LOT of coffee.  To just have a few days of doing nothing was pretty awesome.  The only time we left the cabin was to grab lunch in town…which was interesting.

Ok Asheville.  While the mountains are stunning and your town is cute, I think perhaps one too many PSL’s (pumpkin spice lattes for those who have not yet renounced the English language or general taste) have been sipped during the lovely, crisp Autumn season that gave way for year-round promotions and uproar about this perfect, quaint little town.  Now, I don’t want to be rude, but summer is not your season.  While the town was indeed adorable (or old, however you choose to see it), if the hoard of barely dressed, homeless hippies wasn’t overwhelming enough, the smell of urine sure was.

Please don’t hate.  I honestly wanted to love this town and had such high expectations for the few hours that we spent there, away from our cabin.  But, we did not come at the right time.  Now, walking around, I have no doubt that this place is absolutely lovely in the cooler seasons.  In fact, we’ve already planned a trip back in Fall just to come explore the town of Asheville.  There are many shops and cafes that we saw that I can’t wait to explore, but I will not return until the leaves are orange, bodies are fully clothed and the smell of coffee and entitled appreciation fill the air.

Anyway, I didn’t really take any pictures on this trip, but here are a few fun and pretty things that we did see and do.

Until next time, stay classy, Asheville.

    1. Thanks, Amy! I loved the tiles! They were outside of a wine shop somewhere downtown. Sadly, I can’t remember the name. It was actually fun, even with the bear lol

  1. Haha, I almost moved to Asheville once!

Almost. I would still like to visit, though.

I want to hear more about this bear. . . .

    1. We almost moved there, too! How funny! We definitely need to go back…when it’s cooler 😉 It is a cute little town.

      Girl, these bears…

    1. That’s good to hear; that’s definitely what we were thinking. I actually prefer that kind of weather, anyway 🙂
